The Doctor Is In: Dr. David Bersinger
As a monthly feature of DiscoverCheraw.com, we will introduce you to one of Cheraw’s physicians from Chesterfield General Hospital, providing an insider’s look at their life.
A classically trained pianist, jazz lover, photographer and travel enthusiast, David E. Bersinger is all of these things plus a gifted physician. Moving with his family to Cheraw six years ago, David’s desire was to live in a community where people know each other and the quality of life is better and more relaxed.
“I was looking for a home where I could raise my two sons, get to know members of the community, and practice medicine in a more personal, compassionate manner,” David stated. “I have thoroughly enjoyed raising my children here, practicing medicine, and participating in all of the activities this community offers.”
A member of St. David's Episcopal Church and a member of the Cheraw Arts Council, David enjoys staying involved in the town he calls home. One of his fondest memories to date is attending the various jazz venues during the annual South Carolina Jazz Festival, especially hearing the inspirational performance by Dizzy Gillespie's daughter. Whether he is the focus of the performance or hearing someone else perform, David appreciates that his love of music can be fulfilled right here in Cheraw.
David’s sons, Austin and Blake, also call Cheraw home. Austin recently graduated from the University of South Carolina, where he was one of the Gamecocks’ cheerleaders. He now works for Accenture, an international business consulting firm. Son Blake is a freshman at USC and has joined Sigma Chi fraternity. David recently reconnected with his high school sweetheart from his hometown of Fayetteville, Arkansas. They both enjoy listening to music and travel.
